From a young age, Kendall Beard McMinn knew she was destined for a career in music and entertainment. She has always believed that her talent was a gift and should be used to inspire people, lift spirits and give back to the community. Kendall’s passion for performing is fueled by her strong family support system: her husband, Justin McMinn, and son, Maxwell, age 2.
Kendall grew up in Lufkin, Texas and began performing the Texas rodeo circuit at age 12. By age 15, Kendall caught the eye of the producers of Boys II Men who signed her to a development deal as a member of a female pop group. After years of singing and performing Kendall decided to put her musical career on hold to attend The University of Texas at Austin where she graduated with a degree in communications. Not long after graduation, Kendall began missing the stage and decided to give a career in music one more shot. She auditioned for American Idol where she became a finalist on Season 8. Since then, Kendall has released her debut solo album, has been a finalist in various categories at the Austin Music Awards and her band was voted as “Austin’s 2016 Folk Band of The Year.”
Kendall feels extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in this year’s Dancing with the Starts Austin. She is honored to represent Austin’s ever-growing music community and is blessed that she can use her passion for entertaining and performing to support the Center for Child Protection.
