How to Identify & Report Child Abuse

Learn the essentials of identifying the signs and symptoms of abuse, what to do if a child discloses abuse, how and when to report abuse, and what happens during the investigation. Participants will learn prevention tips and how to report both physical and sexual abuse of a child. Meets the required criteria for mandated reporter training. Can be customized for your agency/group.

Becoming Trauma Aware

Traumatic experiences impact brain development and subsequently interactions at home, in school, and in every aspect of life. As a community, we can promote safety and understanding by being able to identify trauma and provide the appropriate intervention, learn how trauma affects the brain and how a trauma-informed community can promote safety and understanding. Teachers will leave with specific strategies to respond to and mitigate the effects of trauma on their students.

Stewards Of Children

One in ten children will experience sexual abuse before their 18th birthday. It is highly likely that someone you know has experienced, or is experiencing, child sexual abuse. Stewards of Children is an evidence-based prevention training that uses real people with real stories to show you how to protect children. Through real-world experiences, learn how offenders gain access to children, elicit the trust of parents and use create secrecy that allows abuse to continue for years.

Speak Up Be Safe & Teen Safety Matters

Speak Up Be Safe (via ChildHelp, for pre-K – 5th grade) and Teen Safety Matters (via Monique Burr Foundation, for 6th – 12th grade). These are evidence-informed primary prevention curricula aimed at stopping and preventing child abuse, including physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, bullying, and cyberbullying. Teen Safety Matters also covers the topic of intimate partner violence and trafficking. These specific trainings meet the Erin and Jenna’s Law and TEA requirements.
