A Growing Legacy of Support
For 25 years, H-E-B has stood beside the Center for Child Protection, contributing over $200,000 to support child abuse victims in Travis County. In honor of H-E-B’s continued commitment to the children we serve, we’re taking a moment to reflect on their journey and the impact of their generosity in our community.
As a long-standing sponsor of the PlayBingo Ladies Luncheon and Luxury Car Raffle, H-E-B has helped raise critical funds to underwrite our no-cost, multilingual services — including forensic interviews, therapy, and medical exams for clients, as well as child abuse prevention trainings for the general public.
H-E-B has also funded direct client programs such as Project Graduation, which helps foster youth transition into adulthood, and they pioneered our H-E-B Snack Station, which provides snacks and refreshments to families waiting for services.
From the beginning, H-E-B has been there when it mattered most. In 2007, they supported our capital campaign for a new building, so we could co-locate our agency partners to better coordinate client services. They came through again in 2020, providing emergency funds to help sustain operations during the pandemic.
In recent years, the Center has been expanding its Education Services program, and H-E-B has played a vital role in covering the costs of new curriculum, travel expenses, training materials, and more. Thanks to their investment, our education and prevention efforts are one step closer to ending child abuse in our community.
Not all of H-E-B’s support has been monetary. At our Family Resource Festival, they participated by donating gift cards, connecting families to their low-cost Primary Care clinics, and making kids smile with the H-E-Buddy mascot.
Employee groups have also added to H-E-B’s overall impact, organizing supply drives, attending education trainings, and volunteering to assemble Black Hair Care Kits and Hygiene Kits, which provide essential items for families in need.
Most recently, the Center hosted 56 volunteers from the 40th annual H-E-B Tournament of Champions. These volunteers helped with a variety of projects, but their primary focus was upgrading our ROPES course — an experiential therapy area where children work to rebuild trust and confidence after trauma. Volunteers planted trees, installed a privacy fence, and added barriers to minimize disruption, creating a more peaceful and private space for children to heal.
The partnership between H-E-B and the Center is deeply rooted in a shared value: that we have a responsibility to protect kids in our community. Through 25 years of unwavering support, H-E-B has helped provide hope and healing to countless children and families. We look forward to seeing our partnership — and H-E-B’s impact — continue to grow over the next 25 years.
