A Community United in Hope and Healing
This year marks a special milestone for the Center for Child Protection – the 20th anniversary of our Guardian Angel Society.
Launched in 2004 with just 20 supporters, this remarkable giving program has blossomed into a powerful network totaling 400 dedicated donors in 2024.
Guardian Angel Society Co-Chair, Nicole Grupp, said the philanthropic gifts from members for the past two decades have played a crucial role in the “successful outcomes these precious children experience”.
“During the 20 years of the Guardian Angel program, 18,600 children have been served at the point of forensic interview and 63,300 clients have been served through our supportive services,” Nicole said.
“These are incredible numbers that we should all be very proud of!”
Creating a Safety Net for Children in Crisis
Each Guardian Angel pledges a minimum contribution of $1,000/year for three years. These funds are unrestricted, 100% tax deductible, and used to meet the unique needs of the children and families the Center serves across Travis County.
The Center’s Emergency Assistance program is just one of the ways Guardian Angel contributions are used to assist Travis County children in crisis.
Children referred to the Center may arrive with specific and immediate needs that our emergency reserve can assist with, like bedding, school supplies, or clothing.
Looking to the Future
As we celebrate 20 years of the Guardian Angel Society, we want to take this opportunity to highlight the extensive impact our donors have on the children we serve, even though they may never see it.
Each contribution from a Guardian Angel, no matter the size, gives the Center for Child Protection the flexibility to meet the urgent and evolving needs of children affected by abuse or neglect.
Whether that’s through forensic interviews, trauma-informed therapy, or responding to unexpected challenges, Guardian Angel donations give the Center the security to serve victims of child abuse at every stage of their journey.
These silent protectors will never meet the children they help but should take comfort in the knowledge that their gifts are guiding Travis County children from hardship to healing.
