Child Fatality Review Team
The Travis County Child Fatality Review Team (CFRT) is a multidisciplinary group consisting of law enforcement officials, medical professionals, social workers, prosecutors, and child advocacy professionals working together toward a single goal to prevent the senseless and needless deaths of children in Travis County.
The team examines the circumstances surrounding child deaths in Travis County at regularly scheduled meetings and provides accurate information on how and why children die through the compilation of an annual report.
Peer Support Program
Our Peer Support Program destigmatizes mental health, promoting help-seeking as a strength. By supporting over 300 Child Protection Team members, we ensure they prioritize their well-being, stay connected, and provide top-quality protection for Travis County’s children.

Recognizing and addressing conflicts with empathy and active listening
Encouraging and building trust within the team
Identifying early signs of distress and recommending appropriate interventions
Offering referrals to external mental health resources when necessary
