In this course, participants will gain an understanding of the various aspects of the internet in which children may be involved with. They will learn various threats that children might encounter while online and how to implement precautions and safeguards to create a safe online environment for children. This workshop is designed for parents and caregivers of children of all ages.

Polyvagal Training

1 – 2.5 Hours
Using Dr. Bruce Perry’s evidence-based approach on NMT and Dr. Porges approach on Polyvagal theory, this workshop will discuss basic brain development and the impact that abuse, neglect, and other types of trauma may have on the Polyvagal system. Participants will learn how this system impacts feelings of safety, the intimacy barrier and capacity to form and maintain relationships.

Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse

Time Varies
This course is designed to educate participants on the signs and symptoms of abuse, how to properly respond if a child discloses abuse, as well as understanding the process of an abuse investigation. By the end of this training, participants will have the knowledge to identify and report abuse, as well as provide support to children who have experienced abuse. This training meets the requirements for Texas Education Code § 38.0041 policies addressing Sexual Abuse and Other Maltreatment of Children.

Stewards of Children

2 Hours
Stewards of Children is a sexual abuse prevention training program that educates through a variety of training modules to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. This training meets the requirements for Texas Education Code § 38.0041 policies addressing Sexual Abuse and Other Maltreatment of Children.

Becoming Trauma Aware

1-2.5 Hours
In this training, you will learn how trauma can impact an individual and ways to create a trauma aware environment. This includes; learning how trauma may impact a developing brain, and understanding how to promote safety, respect, and understanding for those around you. This training will also incorporate core concepts from the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, developed by Dr. Bruce Perry, to help incorporate developmentally appropriate neurosensitive interventions.

Child abuse happens in every part of Travis County. It crosses all ethnic, socio-economic and religious backgrounds. The responsibility of protecting children rests on the shoulders of our community.
