All educators and child-serving professionals play a critical role in protecting the children they serve. Understanding trauma, responding appropriately, and learning to recognize potential abuse allow you to better support the children and families in your care. Understanding & Supporting Trauma in the Classroom

1.5—2.5 hours
Challenging behavior is often a sign that a student’s nervous system is in survival mode. Through the lens of The Polyvagal Theory, this training will explore how trauma is stored in the body—influencing behavior and emotional regulation—and what educators can do to help students feel safe, connected, and ready to learn.

Becoming Trauma Aware

1.5—2.5 hours
Using the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT), a global evidence-based practice, participants will increase their knowledge of brain development, explore trauma’s impact on the brain, and learn how to effectively support and respond to individuals who have experienced trauma.

Understanding Trauma Through Polyvagal Theory

1.5—2.5 hours
This theory explains trauma’s impact on the nervous system and emphasizes the way trauma transforms our bodies. By understanding how these changes occur in the vagus nerve, participants will learn techniques to help individuals feel safe, establish healthier emotional connections, and improve their ability to learn.

Grooming: The Manipulation of Children, Families, and Communities

1.5–2.5 hours
This training raises awareness about the deceptive tactics of sexual grooming, a process used to sexually abuse children and avoid detection. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of the psychological and emotional impact on children, along with practical tools to identify and respond to boundary violations.

This presentation will explore how early trauma can impact children’s development, emotional regulation, and behavior, while providing actionable strategies to help professionals create trauma-responsive environments that support the unique needs of every child.

Stewards of Children

1.5—2.5 hours
This evidence-informed prevention training program teaches adults how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. This training meets the requirements of TEC § 38.0041.

Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse

1.5—2.5 hours
This training is for all schools, child-serving organizations, staff, and volunteers who interact with children. It provides a foundation for understanding, identifying, and reporting suspected child abuse in compliance with Texas Family Code 261.001,  Texas Education Code § 38.004, and TEC §38.0041.
