Thank you to our 2023 Dancing with the Stars Austin cast, Event Chairs Betsy Hudson and Stephanie O’Neill, our presenting sponsor Mercedes-Benz of Austin, volunteers, and more than 1,100 event attendees for raising a record-breaking $2.6 million for child abuse victims in our community.
Our 10 celebrity dancers wowed the audience with their jaw-dropping routines, with Nasreen Shahi and professional dancer Eric Young’s Cha Cha routine winning them the coveted Mirror Ball trophy. 2nd Place went to Brooke Nichol and professional dancer Tristan Reimann, and 3rd Place went to Amy Beard and professional dancer Nolan Whitely. James Klingman and professional dancer Maira Montes earned the Dancer’s Choice award, with Brooke Nichol also taking home the Fundraising and Awareness award.

Jeff Jumonville
Jeff grew up in Beaumont, Texas and moved to Austin in 1990 where he graduated from Westlake in 1991. He then went on to get a Business Degree at Baylor, where he walked on the golf team his senior year. Sic ‘Em Bears!
Jeff’s 15 minutes of fame came and went in 2005 when he played a match-play event against Justin Leonard on ESPN in “People vs the Pros.” for $100,000. Jeff recently opened up the Austin office for a Dallas-Based Commercial Insurance firm called Tower Street Insurance. As a Commercial Risk Advisor, Jeff helps clients with Personal Insurance, Commercial Insurance and Business Health Benefit Plans. In 2011-2013 he had a two-year adventure in Perth, Australia where Jeff sold demand response programs for electric grid solution provider, EnerNOC.
Jeff’s wife of 26 years is Julie (Aggie, Rockstar, SuperMom, Entrepreneur, Inventor, Commercial Real Estate Developer & DWSTA Champion ’21). His kiddos include Grace (University of Texas – Psychology & Plan II ’22) and Reece (Texas A&M – Mays School of Business ’25). Since the nest is empty, the Jumonville’s split time between Austin and Tamarindo Costa Rica. Pura Vida! A fun fact about Jeff is that he may or may not be wearing tear-away pants at any given moment. When not working, Jeff can be found on the golf course, pickle ball court, surfboard or enjoying time with family and friends.
J.R. Martinez
J.R. Martinez is an actor, best-selling author, motivational speaker, advocate, and wounded U.S. Army veteran, inspiring countless lives with his incredible journey. Raised by a single working mother who emigrated from El Salvador, J.R. had humble beginnings in Georgia. After high school, he joined the Army to give back to his country. In Iraq, tragedy struck when he suffered severe burns from a roadside bomb. During his recovery, he discovered his gift for motivating others.
As a sought-after speaker, J.R. travels globally, spreading a message of resilience and optimism. He achieved fame as “Brot Monroe” on “All My Children” and won “Dancing with the Stars” season 13. Through his book “Full of Heart” and podcast “REBIRTH with J.R. Martinez,” he shares his journey of turning tragedy into inspiration.
An ardent advocate, J.R. supports various nonprofits. He finds joy in spending time with his wife Diana, children Lauryn and Leo, and dog Ellie in their Austin, TX home. J.R. continues to touch lives, proving that the power to overcome lies within us all.
Becca Tobin
Becca Tobin is a multi-talented entertainer known for her impressive accomplishments across various fields. As an actress, singer, and dancer, she has left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment. Becca’s breakthrough role as Kitty Wilde on “Glee” propelled her to international fame and cemented her status in pop culture. Recently, she showcased her acting prowess in the Disney+ series “Turner & Hooch,” further solidifying her position as a versatile performer.
Beyond her on-screen success, Becca is also a New York Times bestselling author and the host of the popular podcast “LadyGang.”
In 2021, Becca embarked on a new chapter, moving from Los Angeles to Austin with her husband Zach. Their journey into parenthood began last year with the arrival of their son, Ford, filling their lives with joy and love.
Dave Annable
Dave Annable is a talented and charismatic actor with a remarkable two-decade career that continues to flourish. He currently stars as Neil, Zoe Saldana’s husband, in Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount Network series “Special Ops: Lioness.” Dave also made a notable appearance as Lee Dutton, Kevin Costner’s son, in the Paramount Network’s hit western series “Yellowstone” and has a recurring role on CW’s “Walker.” He showcased his acting skills in the Netflix limited series “What/If” alongside Renee Zellweger.
For five seasons, Annable impressed audiences as “Justin” in the TV drama “Brothers and Sisters.” He also starred in Steven Spielberg’s “Red Band Society” on Fox, NBC’s medical drama “Heartbeat,” and ABC’s “666 Park Avenue.”
Dave has made guest appearances on “This Is Us” and acted alongside his wife Odette in the Freeform romantic-comedy TV movie “No Sleep ‘Til Christmas.” He was seen in the lead role of the feature film “Armed Response” with Wesley Snipes and Anne Heche, as well as in the TV movie “Final Vision” opposite Scott Foley.
In addition to his acting pursuits, Annable participated in a benefit production of “You Can’t Take It With You” directed by Nora Ephron, featuring Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Martin Short, Annette Bening, and William Shatner. Dave pursued his college education at SUNY Plattsburgh and received training at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York under Richard Pinter.
Dave and Odette currently reside in Austin, Texas, enjoying their life together with their two daughters.
Amy Beard
Amy, a longtime Austinite, has been a proud resident of the city since 1991. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2004 and began a successful career at the Texas Capitol. With over 17 years of expertise in government relations, reputation management, public policy, and real estate, Amy is a formidable professional. Her advocacy for her clients has earned her a reputation for dedication.
Amy has honed her skills in negotiation and persuasion, using them to champion Travis County children. Her vibrant spirit and commitment leave a lasting impact on every project she undertakes. Since 2011, Amy has served on the Board of Directors for the Center for Child Protection, holding various leadership roles, including chairing committees such as Raffle, Government Relations, and Guardian Angel. Her exceptional contributions earned her the title of “Board Member of the Year” in 2015.
Amy’s personal connection to the cause is rooted in her experience as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. She channels her time, talent, and energy into advocating for children suffering in silence.
In her personal life, Amy resides in West Austin with her husband Blair and their two cherished children. She also owns blush + love, a luxury gift boutique she founded after the loss of her dad. The boutique celebrates life’s moments through joy-filled gifts and decor. Through both her boutique and advocacy, Amy is dedicated to bringing light to others, whether through giving or protecting those in need.
Victor Beck
Victor Beck is a proud Austinite, born and raised, currently holding the position of Vice President of Investment Research at Beck Capital Management. His primary focus is on delivering exceptional returns for clients through in-depth fundamental analysis of equity and fixed income assets. Victor is deeply committed to expanding the reach and impact of Beck Capital Management within the Texas business community and local philanthropic initiatives.
In 2017, Victor graduated with the highest honors, summa cum laude, from Southern Methodist University. He further honed his expertise by completing his MBA in Finance at Rice University in 2021. After a decade of residing between Dallas and Houston, Victor has recently returned to Austin, his beloved hometown.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Victor has a profound love for country music and two-step dancing. In fact, he was actively involved in a country dancing team during his college years. Beyond his passion for dance, Victor previously held certification as a personal trainer, emphasizing his dedication to physical fitness and community initiatives that promote exercise and well-being among young individuals. He also enjoys attending live music events, playing golf, standup paddleboarding, and exploring different cultures through travel.
Victor finds immense joy in supporting the Center for Child Protection, an organization close to his heart. In memory of his late mother, Debbie Beck, who sadly passed away in 2022, he dedicates his dance performances and fundraising efforts. Debbie Beck was an extraordinary mother, a profound inspiration to Victor, and deeply passionate about philanthropic causes benefiting children.
