As the season of giving kicks off, two dedicated youth ambassadors from the Loving Library brought warmth and joy to the Center for Child Protection, donating 100-200 books from their recent drive as well as a custom-built bookshelf.
During their visit, ambassadors Deven Kancherla, 14, and Yuvraj Desai, 10, not only assembled the bookshelf but also added thoughtful touches like cozy pillows to create an inviting reading nook for children in the Center’s play area. The project was made possible through a partnership with Waymo.
This isn’t the first time the Loving Library has supported the Center; during the Family Resource Festival in November 2024, they donated books to the Center’s clients and gifted many more to families in the community.
Deven, co-founder of the Loving Library’s Austin chapter, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to support the Center.
“The work that the Center does for children and families in need is inspiring,” he said.
“I hope the bookshelf we built, and the books donated for a cozy area will provide some comfort for the kids using the lounge area.”
The Loving Library aims to bring comfort and joy to children by providing access to books and creating inviting spaces to foster healing.
Brittany Williams, the Center’s Director of Program Services, said she was always “in awe of our young future leaders” and shared how much the gesture will mean to the children who visit the Center.
“Thank you so much to Deven and Yuraj and their hard work with Loving Library Austin Chapter,” she said.
“They have enhanced our quiet space for children when they come in for services, and given them the opportunity to take books home after their visit.”
The Center for Child Protection is deeply grateful to the Loving Library and Waymo for their generosity and dedication to making a difference. Together, they’ve created a space that will bring comfort and joy to children for years to come.
