While we have suspended all in-person prevention trainings to help slow the spread of COVID-19, the Center for Child Protection’s Education Team is still working to bring you information and tools for child abuse prevention.

As always, our community trainings are:

  • FREE

  • Available in English and Spanish

  • Available for parents, professionals or community members

  • Provide CEUs for professionals

  • Can be tailored to your audience

  • NOW Available online

If your organization already has a preferred online platform for us to join, we can utilize it for your training. If you do not currently have an online platform, let us know when you register and we’ll provide you information for an online training fit for your needs.

Offering Continuing Education Units to Professionals

How to Identify & Report Child Abuse

The Center’s Identification & Reporting Training is unique in that it provides professionals who work with children the essentials of identifying the signs and symptoms of abuse, what to do if a child discloses abuse, how and when to report abuse and what happens during the investigation. Participants will learn prevention tips and how to report for both physical and sexual abuse of a child.

This training is available free of charge and can be customized for your organization. Free CEUs available.

Parent Workshops

The Center for Child Protection offers a variety of child abuse prevention workshops targeted to parents and protective caregivers. From how to identify child sexual abuse to internet safety, effective discipline and recognizing trauma, every training can be tailored to your specific needs.

Fill out our training request form or call the Center to learn which workshop is best for you. Our goal is to equip all caregivers with the knowledge and information to better keep the children in your life safe and healthy.

Child Safety Program for Students

Speak Up Be Safe, a child safety program geared toward students, is an evidence-informed primary prevention curriculum aimed at stopping and preventing child abuse, including physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, bullying and cyberbullying.

The Center for Child Protection is trained to facilitate the program by coming into the schools to provide sessions. Safety rules children will learn include: (1) It’s My Body, (2) Ask an adult if I’m Safe, (3) I have Choices, (4) Tell Someone and (5) It’s Never My Fault. This specific training meets the Erin and Jenna’s law and TEA requirements.

STEWARDS OF CHILDREN

Darkness to Light’s evidence informed sexual abuse prevention training is currently free online when you register and use the code FLIPTHESWITCH. We also offer this training regularly at the Center, and you can sign up for dates with us later this year.

The Center for Child Protection is a Partner in Prevention through Darkness to Light. We are dedicated to providing a safe space for children and educating ourselves on how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. All staff and volunteers who interact with children at the Center are trained in Stewards of Children.
