The Center for Child Protection Celebrates Amanda Van Hoozer’s 30th Anniversary
Austin, Texas, April 29, 2026– The Center for Child Protection is celebrating a career milestone as Chief Program Officer Amanda Van Hoozer marks 30 years of dedicated service to the children and families of Travis County.
Since joining the Center in 1996, Amanda has played a huge role behind the the organization’s growth from a small team of 10 in East Austin to a well-running organization of nearly 100 employees across three locations.
Throughout her three decades at the Center, Amanda has been instrumental in shaping the approach to child abuse investigations in Travis County. From her early days as Program Coordinator to her current role as Chief Program Officer, her leadership and vision has directly influenced many initiatives, including the Facility Dog Program and the expansion of the St. Johns Therapy Location.
“Amanda didn’t just witness the Center’s growth, she helped make it possible,” says Michael Torres, CEO of the Center for Child Protection. “She has played an instrumental role in systemically changing how children are handled by the criminal justice system here in Travis County.”
While her leadership has shaped the Center’s foundations, Amanda remains focused on the future of the team by mentoring the next generation of child advocates.
