Center family, today we are proud to announce that our Lakeway location turns 5! That’s 5 years of serving the community, 5 years of providing services to clients, and 5 years of continuing to #ProtectAustinKids!

The Center’s main office is located in East Austin, and in 2018, the Center and the Board of Directors recognized a need to provide a space to serve children in Travis County’s western jurisdictions. Together with the Child Protection Team, the Lakeway office was created to provide forensic interviews, therapy, and support services to child abuse victims and their protective families.

Celebrating 5 Years at Lakeway Sensory
Lakeway Entrance - Center for Child Protection

The Center’s Lakeway location is home to the Center’s first Sensory Gym, an experiential tool that can be used in both individual and family therapy. The gym allows children to safely explore their environment through play, movement, and their senses and can help children feel more regulated, calm, and balanced. All to reduce trauma and begin the healing process.

The Lakeway location is also equipped with two forensic interview suites, for our team to provide a non-leading developmentally sensitive method of gathering information from children. As well as two family rooms, to ensure that families are connected to individuals working on their case and are aware of resources available to help their child heal and support the family during the legal process.

This didn’t happen overnight. We saw a need and we worked hard to make the Lakeway location what it is today! Every milestone is rooted in generosity, hard work, and the support of donors, local partners, and teammates. So, here’s to 5 years of Lakeway and continuing to make the Center more accessible to all of Travis County every day.
